Plan a visit
The Freedom Library welcomes clubs, schools, community centers, and any groups interested in visiting the center. We design age-appropriate programs that explore historical and current civil rights movements.
In January, we were proud to host the White Plains Youth Bureau. 13 boys (6-8 grade) watched a brief film about nonviolence and the Nashville lunch counter sit-in and saw slides of African American cowboys and Ida B. Wells-Barnett. Co-librarian Jacqueline Tynes recounted how she had to sit at the back of buses or in the first car behind a coal burning (and soot spewing) coal engine.
